Peggy Jones/Mom- My mom has supported me and continues to support me throughout my life. She continuously praises me for becoming the person that I am today; however she still tries to put me in check when she feels I need it. She always has an encouraging word and would never allow me to use the word can’t, and would always remind me that I could do anything that I set my mind to do as long as I was passionate about it.
Steven Jones/Dad- My
dad has always showed me unconditional love.
I am the baby of the family so I was definitely a daddy’s girl. He was the authoritative figure in my
life. Rules were very strict but they
were his rules and I had to abide by them.
My freshmen year of college I called my dad and told him that I wanted
to come home, that I didn’t like school and I just wanted to find a job but he
encouraged me to hang in there and to be positive about the experiences that I
was going through. I know that if I
would not have talked to him that particular evening I probably would not have
stayed in school.
Christee White/Sister- Christee
is only two years older than me but has always encouraged me to do my best and
to go after my dreams. Christee stuck
up for me in school and always had my back no matter what. She is truly a big sister who I love very
dearly.Renee Jones/Oldest Sister- Renee is three years older than me and as a child taught me to stick up for myself and to be the person that I wanted to be, not what others dictated me to be. She encouraged me, would remind me that I was smart and did the things that older sister do for their younger siblings.
Harvey Jones/Grandfather- My granddad was the best. He would always tell his grandchildren he wanted to see us do big things in our lives. He encouraged us, reminded us of how much he loved us and showed us how to give love; he was a good man who truly cared about his family. Sitting back thinking of him at this moment has me on the verge of tears but I know in my heart that he is proud of the woman that I have become.
All of these people
have shown me unconditional love throughout my life. They continue to encourage me to this very
day. I was the first child and the first
grandchild to graduate from college and it’s because of these five people and a
few more that I am who I am. My sisters
are the ones who encouraged me to go back to school and get my Masters
Degree. Since being in school they all
call me to ask if I am staying on top of my work or just to ask how my classes
are coming. I thank God for such a
loving, supportive family who has always showed me unconditional love and
support.
The love and support from family is what keeps me going day to day. I have a friendship with all my siblings that is like no other friendship.
